Be Winter Ready

Severe weather challenges all of us. Activities that we take for granted can become difficult or even hazardous when severe weather occurs. However by taking some simple steps you can reduce the impact of such events. The Winter Ready booklet is prepared by the Government Task Force on Emergency Planning. The main message is simple - be prepared, stay safe and know where to find help should you need it.

Dunlavin & District Forum would like to wish one and all a Safe, Happy & Healthy Christmas.

Dunlavin Christmas Fair - A big thank you to all!

The Forum would like to thank everyone who made yesterday's Christmas Fair in the Imaal Hall such a success, and such a great kick start to the Festive Season.

Thanks to everyone who came to support the Fair, and to all the stall holders who provided such a fantastic array of goodies - from beautiful scarves to delicious cupcakes to wonderful toys, games, candles, jewellery, pampering products and books.

And of course a huge thank you to Father Christmas who took time out of his incredibly packed schedule to pay us all a visit  - We hope he made it back to the North Pole safely!

Our very best wishes for Christmas to everyone.

Dunlavin family butcher “Showers with flowers”!

This is the second year running Dunlavin has had its streets strewn with flowers by way of beautiful hanging baskets. This year, however, their appearance is entirely due to the extraordinary generosity of Myles & Tanya Doyle.

Myles and Tanya, owners of Doyle’s Family Butchers, are strong supporters of local initiatives aimed at improving the town, and this year when funding for the Dunlavin Summer Hanging Basket Project was floundering, they approached the Dunlavin & Distinct Forum offering their assistance and ended up financing the entire project.  The only stipulation they insisted on was that the Forum use a local supplier. We’re delighted to report that Kitty Tinkler, the local florist, was only too happy to oblige.

Dunlavin Tidy Towns

As 2011 is the year of the volunteer, perhaps you could spare an hour to help the Tidy Towns Committee on Monday nights at 7pm meeting at the Market House. We would like to see residents and businesses in the town keep areas outside their premises clean and tidy and brighten up walls with a coat of paint. We all look forward to improving our result in the annual competition this year.

Dunlavin Crest Competition - Results

Due to the very high standard of the entries, it was decided that the Dunlavin Crest would be a combination of elements from the various different entries, so there is no overall winner.
